Starlink, the satellite company SpaceX subsidiary, and internet service provider has increased it's residential plan cost in Nigeria from ₦ 38,000 per month to ₦75,000 per month. This is more than double what previously costs per month.
The residential plan which features unlimited data but limited to a fixed location has become popular among the middle and high earners mostly tech professionals in the past year.
It currently cost ₦590,000 for the device alone on the official website and was previously ₦440,000
The subscription to the "Roam" plan on the other hand has also been increased to ₦167,000 per month from ₦49,000 per month. Unique features of the Roam plan include Countrywide Coverage. It works while you're in motion, if you're traveling internationally or at the beach. You can also pause the service. It's mostly suited for Nomads and people who travel alot. Business Executives. etc.
This new pricing of the Starlink subscription is due to the continuous inflation and devaluation of the Nigerian Naira. over the past year.
Current customers would not have to pay these new rates until October 31st, 2024 but new customers would pay these new rates effective immediately.
